 PROJECT JAMAICA

With a mostly public dental care system focused on emergency rather than preventative treatment, Jamaicans face a crucial need to improve oral health care countrywide. With 1 dentist per 17,000 citizens (as compared to 1 dentist per 1600 Americans) and only 4 specialized dentists servicing a population of nearly 3 million, dental care in Jamaica is challenged by a shortage of dentists, supplies, and preventative care.* Through Project Jamaica, SWHF-Global is helping fill these voids by partnering with ACE (American-Caribbean Experience) to support doctors who volunteer to help host quarterly medical/dental clinics.
